On February 24, 2026, the University of Hamburg campus opened its doors to all prospective students. In over 170 exciting events, they learned how studying works, which degree program might be right for them, and what campus life has to offer.
The IDGS was also there: Simone Scholl and Britta Harms presented our degree programs to an interested audience and answered FAQs about sign languages, interpreting and the Deaf communities in the form of a quiz. Simon Kollien then followed up with a taster course in German Sign Language , in which the highly motivated participants learned the basic principles of DGS and practiced their first dialogue in DGS in pairs.
We can look back on a very successful event and are already looking forward to the next University Day!
