IDGS is taking part in the 48th annual meeting of DGfS

From February 25th to 27th, 2026, the 48th Annual Meeting of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sprachwissenschaft (DGfS, German Linguistics Society) took place at the University of Trier. Our two colleagues, Lisa Loy and Hope E. Morgan, participated in the working group with the title “Visual Patterns in the Phonetics of Gestures” with a presentation on patterns of visual salience in the embedding space of Kenyan Sign Language. During the three conference days, there was lively discussion and many exciting presentations on phonetics in the visual modality, in both signed and spoken languages.

We would like to thank the organisers for their hospitality and for three rewarding days in Trier!
