For the penultimate time this semester, we were pleased to welcome a guest in our series "International Sign Language Research: Current Discussions" on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
Adam Schembri from the Department of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Birmingham, UK, spoke in his live lecture via online video conference on the topic "Sociolinguistic Typology and Sign Languages". About 40 students and staff followed the lecture, which was held in English and interpreted into the DGS.
The lively participation in the Q&A session following the presentation reflected the great interest in the topic.
The students were particularly pleased that Adam was still available for further questions and a great discussion in the seminar after the presentation.
Many thanks to the lecturer and all those present!
