The 14th conference of Theoretical Issues in Sign Language Research (TISLR) took place from 26.September to 01.October in Osaka, Japan.
TISLR is the world’s largest sign language linguisticsconference, and this year was the first time the conference was held in Asia. It was also for the first time offered in a hybrid format. Our colleagues Cornelia Loos and Janika Thiesattended in person at the National Museum of Ethnology (MINPAKU) in Osaka. Cornelia Loos and Marc Schulder, who joint online from the IDGS, presented their results on negative polarity items in DGS: "Not just any sign - Searching for negative polarity items in DGS".
Janika Thies, Anne Wienholz, and Annika Herrmann presented the poster "An eye-tracking study on influences of perspective on the spatial processing of modified signs in German Sign Language" during the online poster sessions.
A big thank you goes to the International Office of the University of Hamburg, which supported the trip to Japan as part of the SEED funding to expand research contacts and cooperation with Japan.
