As in the winter semester 2022, when our sign language interpreting program cooperated with the Thalia Theater, we were able to facilitate a cooperation with the Ohnsorg Theater in the winter semester 2023 through student Caroline Kiesewetter.
This year, selected performances of the Christmas fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin were interpreted into sign language for schools and families. We are delighted that this offer was so well received and that there was overwhelming demand! The interpreters were students of the IDGS at the University of Hamburg under the guidance of their lecturer Britta Harms. The Foundation for the Promotion of the Ohnsorg Theater (Stiftung zur Förderung des Ohnsorg-Theaters) provided financial support for the school performances for the Elbschule. We would like to thank Rainer Schöndube, First Chairman of the Foundation for the Promotion of the Ohnsorg Theater and member of the Supervisory Board, and Caroline Kiesewetter for their commitment. A special surprise awaited the deaf children of the Elbschule after the performance: Santa Claus!
