On 14 May 2018, Mr. Mark Zaurov gave a guest lecture at the IDGS entitled "The Significance of Deaf Holocaust and Barriers in Research", during which he presented his latest research findings on the topic deaf holocaust and embedded the research findings in the 4-pillar theory put forward by Eickman (2009). He discussed the concepts of hybrid and imagined communities in relation to deaf Jews as a cultural minority. Afterwards, many questions were raised to clarify the terminology and the scientific exchange was then also moved into the restaurant, where the discussion continued during dinner.
