On 24 October 2018, Alexey Prikhodko gave a lecture on "Automatic Sign Language Recognition" at the Institute of German Sign Language (IDGS). Mr. Prikhodko is a doctoral student from Novosibirsk in Russia and currently on a 6-month DAAD scholarship at our institute. The title of the lecture was: "HamNoSys-based handshape recognition using Deep Learning". The lecture was interpreted from Russian Sign Language into German Sign Language and German by a team of deaf and hearing interpreters. It was an impressive lecture offering fascinating insights into the complexity of automatic handshape recognition.
