The 13th issue of the conference series "Theoretical Issues in Sign Language Research“ (TISLR) with appr. 450 international participants was a lively and successful event. From Sept 26 until Sept 28 the main building of the University of Hamburg was the place to exchange new findings in sign language linguistics with experts from all over the world. There were impressive keynote presenters, interesting talks and three lively poster sessions.TISLR’s all-new format was Five Minute SIGNopsis, a video contest during which junior sign language linguists presented their research in a concise, informative, and engaging way, the winner was selected by the audience. In addition there was a social program with guided city tours in International Sign, a conference dinner with performances in sign language poetry and a festive senate reception in the Hamburg city hall. The conference languages were DGS, ASL, International Sign and English.
The conference was organised by Prof. Annika Herrmann (IDGS, University of Hamburg), Prof. Barbara Hänel-Faulhaber (Faculty for Educational Sciences, University of Hamburg), Prof. Christian Rathmann (Humboldt-University Berlin) und Prof. Markus Steinbach (Georg-August-University Göttingen).
Our warm thank you goes out to all TISLR participants for this unforgettable event, all presenters, especially our invited keynote presenters for their valuable contributions, Universität Hamburg Marketing GmbH and all helpers for the smooth cooperation, our sponsors for their generous support, the technicians for the overwhelming equipment in the lecture hall and the entire interpreter team for their professional performance.
