On Sept 30 we were glad to welcome Ms Natsuko Shimotani and Ms Kazumi Maegawa from the Sign Language Research Center at Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan. Ms Shimotani and Ms Maegawa were also attending TISLR 13 in September and took the chance to visit our institution after the conference.Their institution was launched in 2016 as the first research institution of sign language among the universities in Japan. Currently, they are conducting various projects such as offering sign language linguistic courses, holding sign-language related symposia for the general public, etc.Stefan Goldschmidt, Michaela Matthaei and Hannah Schiewe were happy to give them an interesting tour through the institute building and gave them an insight to the classrooms, the institute's degree programmes and research projects. After that Prof. Annika Herrmann was happy to share her experience concerning leadership and structural issues of a research institution. Our guests were happy to get a lot of valuable information. It was great to have you here, Ms Shimotani and Ms Maegawa- our best wishes go out to the Sign Language Research Center at Kwansei Gakuin University. See you in Osaka at TISLR14!
