Reaction time measurement (RT)
(The video presents the text in German Sign Language)
Reaction time describes the duration from the presentation of a stimulus and the subject's response to it. Reaction time measurements are popular as an adjunct in combination with EEG or BBM to collect behavioral (behavioral-based) data. Often the subject is asked to respond as quickly as possible to a presented stimulus, such as when matching images to a video. This can be done, for example, by mouse click or button press. Thus, not only the responses (correct or incorrect) are measured, but also the reaction speed. For example, if the choices are very similar or if the task is very complicated, the reaction time is usually higher because more time is needed to process what is seen, consequently to find the differences and to select the correct answer. If the stimuli are less complex, they are faster to process. Thus, the reaction time is usually very low there again.
