Outlook Day 2024

Event on the topic "Studying sign languages – what next?"

At the Outlook Day 2024, the following individuals presented their offerings:

  • Christoph Fittschen, AStuB (Study and Career Center, SLM Department):
    AStuB offers advice on study planning, internships, career orientation, and self-presentation using your own humanities skills,
    as well as courses on orientation in studies and careers, internships, tutorial work/qualification (teaching practice certificate), and key humanities skills.
  • Dr. Barbara Sutter, Career Center at the University of Hamburg.
    The Career Center offers: Support for students and graduates of the University of Hamburg in planning their career path and acquiring interdisciplinary professional skills.
    Advice on career goals, assistance with job searches, continuing education opportunities, and networking to facilitate the transition from university to the working world.

Then there were presentations by former students of sign language about their studies and their future career paths, followed by a question and answer session.

This was followed by

  • brief information from the internship coordinators in the field of sign language,
  • advice from Liona Paulus and Annika Herrmann on professionalization and career change for the entire group, and
  • finally, there was time for discussion.
