At the beginning of the annual DGfS conference 2020, that took place in Hamburg (04-06 March), Diane Lillo-Martin (Haskins Laboratories, University of Connecticut, USA) gave her keynote presentation "Heritage Language Characteristics of Bimodal bilinguals". The lecture dealt with the special language characteristics of bimodal-bilinguals which include children of deaf adults (CODAs). Among other things, the renowned linguist examines the unique phenomenon of "code blending" (simultaneous production of signed and spoken utterances), which are vividly explained using numerous examples.
The lecture was recorded for Lecture2 Go, a portal of the Universität Hamburg, which aims at making scientific events available to a general public. The video lasts approx. 35 min and was provided with a DGS translation and subtitles.
