The Institute of German Sign Language and Communcation of the Deaf at the University of Hamburg is seeking to appoint a research assistant in the field of sign language research (salary level E13) who will work in a project on the linguistic and content-related evaluation of sign language data. The fixed-term position is available as of November 2021. The successful candidate will be a member of the Institute of German Sign Language and Communcation (IDGS) and its vibrant research community. Duties involve both research and teaching (4,5 hours/week). We are looking for candidates with a university degree in a subject related to sign languages and good command of German Sign Language. The suitable candidate should have demonstrable teaching and team working skills and should be able to demonstrate a strong publication record on topics related to sign language research/deaf studies. Note that this is a full-time position for six month then turning into a 50% part-time position (the start and end dates of the contract will change accordingly as well as the teaching duties).
