The DFG priority programme "ViCom" (2329) investigates specific properties of visual communication and their linguistic relevance. In this interdisciplinary priority programme, the interface between gestures, words and signs is examined from different perspectives. At the Faculty of Humanities at UHH, there are two projects within this programme that investigate German Sign Language (DGS).
At a kick-off meeting of all the projects funded in ViCom, the research groups were able to exchange ideas at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe from 16-18th November 2022. The aim of networking under the umbrella of the priority programme is to establish cross-thematic and cross-disciplinary cooperation and a sustainable multimodal ViCom data network. From Hamburg, Cornelia Loos, Annika Herrmann, Marc Schulder, Sarah Schwarzenberg and Sabrina Wähl were present as project representatives and/or experts on ethical and data protection issues. We are looking forward to the coming years of cooperation.
