On 19 April 2023, the first international guest lecture of the summer semester took place.
Berenice Santos Gonçalves gave the lecture, titled "The Design perspective in the development of digital educational resources: theoretical methodological approach and recent studies based on teaching materials in Sign Language". She is a professor and researcher at the Center for Communication and Expression at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in Brazil. In addition, she is currently a visiting scholar at IDGS as part of the CAPES PRINT UFSC - BRAZIL internationalization program. The presentation was given in English and interpreted in DGS.
Design approaches of digital educational resources were presented, which are designed and continuously improved starting from the perspective of the user. The goal is to use design to help solve social problems such as health, education, and inclusion. In the lecture, Berenice presented excerpts and methodological concepts from bachelor's theses, as well as master's and PhD research in the field of design at UFSC. She specifically showed, current research on teaching materials for Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), which investigates deaf students' perception and understanding of the visual and graphic elements used there.
