The guest lectures at IDGS of this winter semester started on 18 October 2023. The first lecture was presented by Dina Zander-Tabbert. She has been working as a professional sign language interpreter in various settings and as a lecturer in various degree programmes for sign language interpreters throughout Germany for over 20 years.
Under the title "On the situation of educational interpreting in Germany", she presented us with extremely exciting aspects of her final thesis, which she wrote as part of her EUMASLI degree programme. In it, she took a close look on the perspective of deaf consumers of interpreting services in educational settings. Dina Zander-Tabbert particularly emphasised how deaf pupils experience education with sign language interpreters, as well as the interpretation of foreign language lessons in inclusive settings, as there has been no research on this in Germany to date.
