The Philosophenturm was reopened after five years of refurbishment. Since autumn 2023, teaching in many departments of the Faculty of Humanities has no longer taken place on Überseering, but on campus once again. The 14-storey tower block offers space for 2,500 students and 500 workstations for university staff. The long journeys to learning and teaching have now come to an end.
At the opening ceremony on 10 April 2024, the Dean of the GW, the President of the University and Senator Katharina Fegebank gave welcoming speeches. There were also really informative and exciting presentations on the history and architecture of the Philosophers' Tower. Everyone is pleased that a better exchange can now take place again beyond the various departments. This is also made possible by the so-called "Cube", the new central library and the canteen in the Philosophy Tower. A great day to celebrate. We are delighted that the other departments of the GW faculty are now back in our neighbourhood!
