On 8 July 2024, a school class from the Elbschule came to visit the IDGS. This class is attended by children who have fled from Ukraine and Syria. Students of the BA program Sign Language Interpreting had accompanied the class in everyday school life as part of the seminar "Sachgebiet: Pädagogik" and invited them to IDGS at the end of the school year. The aim was to give the pupils an insight into what goes on at the IDGS. Lutz König, Isabella Buckenmeier, Liona Paulus, Lena Bures and Alexander Eisenzimmer welcomed the children and talked about their day-to-day work. The highlight of the visit was the tour of the video studio, where the pupils were able to make their own recordings under the guidance of the studio manager, Thorsten Herbig. Equipped with T-shirts from the DGS-Korpus project and a few sweets, they returned to school at lunchtime.
