The International Congress on the Education of the Deaf took place in Rome during the week of 7-11July, 2025. A team from the Deafness, Language and Learning Lab (D2L, Faculty of Education) and the IDGS (Faculty of Humanities) presents results from various research projects.
From the D2L team, Viktor Werner gave the presentation “Visuality First! Assessing Numeracy in DHH Young Learners Aged 3;6 to 7 Years - A Web-based Learning Tool for Educators” and the joint presentation with colleagues from Cologne “Individual support for DHH students in early math skills in grade 1: How an innovative, multimodal, and multilingual digital math app can help!” In a short presentation, Lisa Neuhaus from the D2L team presented the poster entitled “Emotional and social well-being of deaf and hard of hearing students in inclusive classrooms” and then answered questions from interested parties at the poster itself. Finally, Anne Wienholz from the IDGS presented the collaborative project on a diagnostic test for assessing language proficiency in DGS in her presentation “DGS-SRT-Kids: Development of a sentence repetition task to monitor language development.”
In addition, the Italian flair and food, as well as the coffee, sweetened our visit to the Eternal City every day!
