On Thursday 15 November 2018, delegates from Namibia visited Hamburg. The Head of the Special Education and Inclusion Department from the Namibian Ministry of Education, Ms. Nakashole, and Ms. Beinhauer from the CLasH Deaf Kindergarten, met for talks and lectures by Annika Herrmann (IDGS) and Viktor Werner (Lecturer in Special Needs). Interesting issues in education, training and the professional lives of deaf people in different countries were also discussed. Afterwards there was a very fruitful discussion with Andrea Schaffers, a lecturer of sign language interpreting, on the subject of interpreting. The visitors were also taken on a tour by Simon Kollien, a sign language lecturer, who provided them with information on the history of the IDGS. We were very pleased with the interest shown and wish the participants much success with their further development work on site.
