Before the beginning of the lecture-free period, we were pleased to welcome a last guest in our series "International Sign Language Research: Current Discussions" on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
Sibaji Panda, former lecturer at the International Institute of Sign Languages and Deaf Studies at the University of Central Lancashire, UK and current director of the Shika Eco-Village, the FutuRISE Academy and the Happy Hands School for the Deaf in the Indian state of Odisha, gave a lecture on "Village Sign Languages: What is it? A case study of Alipur Deaf Community in India". The presentation was held in International Sign and was interpreted into DGS and German by a team of deaf and hearing interpreters.
Again, more than 40 interested students and staff participated in the exciting online video conference and the following Q&A session.
Following the presentation, some students were also pleased to have the opportunity to engage in an in-depth exchange with Sibaji Panda during a seminar.
We thank the lecturer and all participants very much!
