The ICL (International Congress of Linguists) takes place every five years and is one of the largest international meetings of linguists. The program is open to all areas and sub-disciplines of linguistics, and interdisciplinary topics are also covered. This year, the congress took place from 8 to 14 September in Poznań, Poland, and our PhD student Sarah Schwarzenberg was there! Sarah presented a poster with the title “Is 4 the same as 4? Number signs and finger gestures in bimodal-bilingual settings”. The study was developed in collaboration with Annika Herrmann (IDGS) and Barbara Hänel-Faulhaber (Faculty of Education). Among other things, it deals with number gestures and number gestures when counting objects as well as the interaction of these in bimodal-bilingual communication. It was a good opportunity to present the study in this setting.
