On 13 and 14 February 2025, the ViCom Project Workshop “Dimensions of Iconicity in the Visual Modality” took place at the University of Göttingen. While the first day focused on iconic elements in gestures, the second day of the workshop was dedicated entirely to iconicity in sign languages. A group from the IDGS in Hamburg also took part in the program. Simon Kollien held the keynote on the beginning of the second day and presented on Constructed Action and Constructed Dialogue from his perspective as a teacher. Cornelia Loos then shared her research findings on restrictions on simultaneous classifier constructions. In addition, our Ph.D. student Lisa Loy, our Master’s student Isabeau Lettow and the interpreter Julia Ruf participated. A total of 19 exciting presentations were held over the two days. In between, there was also time for coffee and snacks as well as further input in the form of poster presentations. While we spend almost the entire day inside the beautiful Emmy Noether Hall, it was snowing outside. The two days were rounded off with a delicious conference dinner, which provided space for further dialogue. We are thankful for the great organisation and the wonderful time in Göttingen!
