On July 12, 2025, a conference day was held at the IDGS. The theme of the day was “Current Perspectives in Interpreting: Practice and Challenges” and was organized as part of the “Translation Studies II” seminar. Normally, students prepare presentations and give them in this seminar. This year, however, there was a conference day instead. The students chose their own topics based on their interests, researched them, prepared presentations, and designed a poster for each topic. The day was filled with presentations and discussions. There were also interviews with Heike Heubach (Member of the German Bundestag) and Matthias Schäfer (deaf SLI). Lecturers, some students, and parents were there—it was really great! Of course, there was also a team of interpreters consisting of students and a lecturer. The posters could be viewed in a separate room, where drinks and snacks were also available. The entire day and the organization in advance were a great experience!
