This year's network meeting took place at the University of Cologne. Participants were primarily employees from academic institutions, including DGS lecturers, sign language researchers, and teachers specializing in DGS-German interpreting.
The aim of the meeting was to establish contacts and exchange experiences in everyday work at universities and technical colleges. In addition to the exchange of ideas, there was also a keynote speech. The topic was: “Criticism of power – audism in research and teaching.” The lecture once again raised the participants' awareness of this topic.
This was followed by topic-specific workshops. Depending on their interests, participants were able to exchange ideas on various topics such as DGS teaching, Deaf Studies, research, or interpreting.
The network meeting was a pleasant and informative exchange.
When and where the next meeting will take place is still open – but one thing is certain: there is a great need for it.
