Sign language research has contributed much to our understanding of human language and communication. Today, a wide range of research methods make it possible to record, document and describe sign languages.
We discussed these topics on December 15 with our guest, deaf linguist Dr. Gabrielle Hodge of the University College London.
In our online event, which was attended by many students and staff, we looked at our current field of science from different perspectives and discussed some fundamental issues, such as the advantages and disadvantages of sign language corpora, the gesture-sign interface, and multimodal communication.
