Taubwissen
Taubwissen - The information portal about language, culture, life and history of deaf people and the deaf communities.
The website is the result of a project work from 2008-2017, which was conducted under the leadership of Stefan Goldschmidt and Christian Rathmann. Heiko Zienert had the idea to develop such a collection of materials.
With the goal of documenting the community and the culture as well as the language and history of deaf people, Stefan Goldschmidt traveled all over Germany and visited events and personalities of the sign language community worldwide, interviewed people in sign language and recorded everything with the camera.
So in most of the videos you see Stefan Goldschmidt's interview partners, they all report about their life as members of the deaf communities. The reports can be roughly divided into three categories:
- Expert interview
- Experience report
- Report of contemporary witnesses about special events or life circumstances
In addition, there are some educational videos, street interviews and recordings of cultural or sign language performances.
The collected videos form a valuable treasure, a heritage of the culture, history and language of the deaf and sign language community.
The use of the website is therefore open to anyone interested. Already at the first publication the resonance was large, in particular schools and universities used gladly the videos for their instruction
